Crystal Palace continued their impressive start to the season with a new club record as they opened their Conference League campaign with a comfortable victory against Dynamo Kyiv in Poland.

Daniel Munoz's looping header from Yeremy Pino's back-post cross put them on their way to success in their first ever game in the main phase of a European competition.
Substitute Eddie Nketiah doubled Palace's advantage just before the hour mark with a sharp close-range finish after a wonderful bit of skill and incisive delivery from Pino on the left.
That sent around 3,500 travelling supporters into raptures and not even the dismissal of Croatian full-back Borna Sosa - for two yellow cards carelessly collected in a three-minute period - in the 76th minute could spoil their party.
By full-time they were not only celebrating a historic first away win in Europe, but breaking a club mark, set back in 1969, by extending their unbeaten run to 19 matches across all competitions.
It was no more than Oliver Glasner's side deserved against opponents who, in recent times, have struggled to live up to their rich European pedigree of previous decades.
Nketiah might have had two had he not just strayed offside to collect Adam Wharton's pass, just moments before his effort that did count. Daichi Kamada's first-half run also deserved more than a tame finish that ended with an easy save for Kiev keeper Ruslan Neshcheret.
The only disappointment was Sosa's red card, picking up quick bookings for a late challenge on Shola Ogundana and then needlessly barging over Oleksandr Tymchyk.
Ange Postecoglou remained defiant as Nottingham Forest fans called for him to be sacked after barely three weeks in charge.
03 Oct 2025
A damaging 3-2 Europa League defeat by Midtjylland means Postecoglou is winless in his opening six games in charge of Forest.
He has become the first permanent Forest manager for 100 years to fail to win any of his first six matches.
After Valdemar Byskov scored the visitors' late third goal at the City Ground, many Forest supporters chanted "You're getting sacked in the morning" towards the former Tottenham boss.
"The fans are disappointed. They are allowed to have an opinion on it. I heard their opinion," said a downcast Postecoglou, who was also jeered as he walked down the tunnel at full-time.
"Nothing surprises me in football. It's the climate we're in. It seems that's the way things are going. It's nothing I can control."
It was just over four months ago when Postecoglou was lifting this competition's trophy with Spurs, but he was dismissed 16 days later, paying the price for a dire domestic campaign. Now he is struggling to get results right at another club.
The first European game at the City Ground for 29 years ended in crushing disappointment, and the finger of blame was pointed at Postecoglou before the final whistle had blown.
John McGinn scored again as Aston Villa continued their winning run with an entertaining victory over Feyenoord in the Europa League.
03 Oct 2025
Villa began their European campaign last week without a win in six games.
But three goals in three matches from their captain have helped them secure back-to-back wins in the Europa League either side of a first victory in the Premier League.
McGinn slotted home Villa's second in Rotterdam after the ball was nudged into his path when Donyell Malen sprinted into the area but was halted by three Feyenoord players.
Emiliano Buendia opened the scoring in the 61st minute with a curled finish after what had been an end-to-end first half filled with controversial decisions.
Unai Emery's side were aggrieved when Anel Ahmedhodzic brought down Ollie Watkins in the 13th minute with the striker bearing down on goal.
The Swedish defender was shown a yellow card for the challenge and referee Rade Obrenovic was advised to review the incident at the monitor to potentially upgrade to red.
However, the Slovenian official opted to stick with his original decision, despite Ahmedhodzic appearing to deny Watkins a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Villa may also have considered themselves lucky not to be 1-0 down when Ayase Ueda's first-half header clearly crossed the goal line, despite Marco Bizot's efforts to claw it away.
However, the goal was not given because of a foul on Matty Cash in the box.
Victory leaves Villa third in the Europa League table and, with boss Unai Emery a four-time winner of the competition, they will hope this is the beginning of a successful campaign in Europe.
Lille goalkeeper Berke Ozer dramatically saved three consecutive penalties in the closing stages of their Europa League win over Roma.
03 Oct 2025
The French side led through Hakon Arnar Haraldsson's sixth-minute strike after he capitalised on an error to score.
But hosts Roma were given the perfect chance to equalise and earn a draw when they were awarded an 80th-minute penalty after handball by Aissa Mandi.
Substitute Artem Dovbyk stepped up to take the spot-kick but his effort was saved, only for referee Erik Lambrechts to order a retake after VAR ruled that defender Romain Perraud, who cleared behind for a corner after the save, had encroached into the area.
Dovbyk stepped up again only to be denied once more by the visiting keeper, but this time the Turkey international was judged to have stepped forward too early.
Responsibility to take the third effort was then given to Matias Soule, but he too was denied by Ozer and this time the save stood to help secure Lille's success.
Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini said afterwards: "I've never seen three missed penalties in one match. It was an almost unique, random situation, which ultimately compromised the result."
On-loan Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund called it "a night you dream of" after he scored twice, including a late winner, as Napoli beat Sporting for their first Champions League victory of the season.
02 Oct 2025
Both of Hojlund's goals came with assists from former Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, while Colombian forward Luis Suarez converted a penalty for Portuguese side Sporting.
Napoli's winning goal came in the 79th minute, with this positive result following the Italians' 2-0 loss at Manchester City in their opening match.
Hojlund completed a season-long loan move to the reigning Serie A champions on transfer deadline day at the beginning of September having not featured in United's opening four competitive games of 2025-26.
During his two years at Old Trafford, he scored five goals in the Champions League - one against Bayern Munich and doubles against Galatasaray and Copenhagen - although United lost all three of those matches.
After scoring twice against Sporting, the 22-year-old, speaking to Uefa, said: "It was the night you dream of, playing in the Champions League.
"I celebrated touching the Napoli badge because I'm happy to play here and the Champions League badge because I love to score in Europe."
