Harry Kane scored two second-half goals as Bayern Munich came from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund in a thrilling match and move 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. 28 Feb 2026
The England striker took his tally to 45 goals in all competitions this season as Bayern became the first team to inflict a home league defeat on Dortmund. Kane, who passed 500 career goals this month, scored twice in 16 minutes to put Bayern ahead after Nico Schlotterbeck's opener. Dortmund thought they had snatched a point when Daniel Svensson's thumping volley sent Signal Iduna Park into pandemonium. But that was until Joshua Kimmich's strike three minutes from time kept Bayern in pole position to win a 14th title in 15 seasons. Schlotterbeck headed Dortmund ahead in the 26th minute when he rose highest in a crowded penalty area to connect with Svensson's free-kick from the left. Dortmund had the chance to double their lead later in the half when Fabio Silva squared the ball to Maximilian Beier, who was denied by the onrushing Jonas Urbig. Despite dominating possession in the first half, Bayern - playing with a front three of Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz - were unable to test Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. But Kane equalised early in the second period with a poacher's effort from inside the area at the end of a slick move involving Kimmich and Serge Gnabry. Both teams missed chances before Kane scored a penalty - a record 10th in a Bundesliga season - after Josip Stanisic was floored by Schlotterbeck. Dortmund levelled when Svensson volleyed past Urbig, but Kimmich all but ended their hopes of winning a first title since 2012.
Barcelona maintained their 100 per cent home record against Levante to end a two-game losing run and return to the top of La Liga. 23 Feb 2026
A shock loss at Osasuna for Real Madrid on Saturday gave them the opportunity to regain the leadership and Barcelona took full advantage at the Spotify Camp Nou to make it 18 home wins from 18 games against Levante. Hansi Flick's side looked vulnerable when they lost at Girona after being thumped 4-0 by Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey, but they bounced back against second-bottom Levante. Teenage midfielder Marc Bernal gave the defending champions a fourth-minute lead before Frenkie de Jong scored his first goal in 13 months and Fermin Lopez added the third with nine minutes left. Eric Garcia centred from the left for 18-year-old Bernal to open the scoring with his second Barca goal in just three games. Joao Cancelo was dangerous on the left for the hosts and the former Manchester City full-back crossed for de Jong to side-foot home the second in the 32nd minute. The hosts might have had more as Cancelo hit the post with a cross, Levante goalkeeper Mathew Ryan denied Raphinha, while Jules Kounde shot over. Despite their dominance, Barcelona's high defensive line allowed the visitors opportunities and keeper Joan Garcia saved from Carlos Alvarez and Jon Olasagasti. Substitute Lopez settled the outcome when he cracked home a 20-yard left-foot drive off the inside of the near post in the 81st minute. Australian keeper Ryan denied Barca a fourth with a superb double save from Raphinha and Lopez. Flick's men are a point clear of second-placed Real after 25 games.
Eberechi Eze was Tottenham Hotspur's tormentor again as Arsenal made a title statement of intent by restoring their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points with victory in the north London derby. 23 Feb 2026
The pressure was on the Gunners after they lost a two-goal lead at relegation certainties Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek, while Manchester City closed the gap with victory over Newcastle United on Saturday evening. Spurs had high hopes of turning up the heat further in interim manager Igor Tudor's first game in charge, but Arsenal simply possessed too much class and threat for their struggling arch-rivals. And Eze, who scored a hat-trick in the 4-1 north London derby win in November, was his side's spearhead again with goals either side of the interval. Eze, who was on the point of joining Spurs when Arsenal clinched a £60m deal with Crystal Palace in August, put Arsenal in front from close-range after 32 minutes. Randal Kolo Muani produced a fine solo effort for Spurs' equaliser two minutes later, only for the much-maligned Viktor Gyokeres to restore Arsenal's advantage with a clinical 20-yard finish with his right foot just after half-time. Unlike at Wolves, where Arsenal sat on their lead with catastrophic results, Mikel Arteta's pace-setters continued to press, adding the third after 61 minutes when Eze picked up a loose ball in the area to sweep a finish past Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario. Spurs had no answer as Arsenal remained in control, Gyokeres outmuscling Archie Gray to score his second in the closing moments of stoppage time to seal an emphatic win.
Alexis Mac Allister scored a 97th-minute winner as Liverpool beat Nottingham Forest in a chaotic finish at the City Ground. 23 Feb 2026
The Argentinian, who moments earlier had had a goal disallowed for handball, bundled the ball into the net from close range in front of thousands of delirious Liverpool fans. Those supporters then had a second nervy wait but Virgil van Dijk, whose downward header was saved by Stefan Ortega before Mac Allister tucked in the rebound, was ruled onside. This time his celebrations could continue after his earlier one was cut short when the video assistant referee had intervened. Ortega had made a great save to deny Hugo Ekitike and as Ola Aina tried to clear the ball, his clearance hit Mac Allister and flew into the net. But the fortuitous goal was chalked off because the ball was deemed to have hit his elbow. It was a high-octane finish to a match which had been largely devoid of goalmouth action. Liverpool, who worryingly lost Florian Wirtz in the warm-up, were uninspiring for long periods but the victory moves them to 45 points, lvel with fourth-placed Chelsea and Manchester United in fifth. Forest, buoyed on from their midweek European win over Fenerbahce, were arguably the better side and under Vitor Pereira, they are already showing encouraging signs. Pereira kept faith with the starting XI that won in Turkey three days ago and they dominated the first half but failed to take their chances, with Callum Hudson-Odoi denied early on by a great save from Alisson. Liverpool, who had more than a week to prepare for this game, were woeful in the opening 45 minutes. Arne Slot's side managed just three touches in the Forest box, while the 12 shots they faced in the first half was the most since their 6-1 defeat at Stoke in 2015. The visitors did improve after the break with Curtis Jones' effort kept out by Ortega but until added time, that was Liverpool's only attempt on target. Forest came close too in the second half with Nikola Milenkovic heading wide. Pereira changed his entire frontline in the hunt for a winner but it was Liverpool who snatched it late on. Forest remain 17th, two points clear of West Ham, who are 18th.
Vinicius Jr ended an emotional week with his fifth goal in four games, but was unable to prevent Real Madrid losing 2-1 to Osasuna and handing Barcelona the initiative in the La Liga title race. 22 Feb 2026
Real were looking to go five points clear, but a first-half Ante Budimir penalty and a late Raul Garcia strike condemned Alvaro Arbeloa to a first league defeat in six games as manager. Vinicius drew Real level in the 73rd minute, days after he alleged he was racially abused during the Champions League victory over Benfica. The Brazil forward had a quiet first half during which his side were fortunate not to concede more than once. Thibaut Courtois produced a stunning one-handed save to deny Budimir from close range, before the Croatia forward hit the post with a header. Referee Alejandro Quintero Gonzalez booked Budimir for simulation late in the first half, but replays showed Courtois stood on the striker's foot as he rounded him. The referee awarded a penalty after consulting the pitchside monitor and Budimir sent Courtois the wrong way. The introduction of Trent Alexander-Arnold in the 64th minute seemed to turn the second half in Real's favour. The England defender immediately created an opportunity for Vinicius with a cross-field pass, but the forward's goalbound effort was blocked. Vinicius - whose every touch was whistled by the home fans - made amends minutes later when he converted from Federico Valverde's low cross into the penalty area, his first away league goal in almost five months. Kylian Mbappe found the top corner from close range but was denied by the offside flag. Osasuna substitute Garcia suffered the same fate in the 90th minute when he skipped past a challenge and finished brilliantly past Courtois from an acute angle, but the video assistant referee (VAR) concluded he was onside and the goal was given. Osasuna's first league victory against Real since 2011 moves the Pamplona club up to ninth in the table. Madrid remain two points clear of Barcelona having played one game more. Hansi Flick's side would go top with a home win against Levante on Sunday (15:15 GMT).
