Chelsea winger Estevao Willian outshone fellow teenage superstar Lamine Yamal in a sensational 3-0 home win over 10-man Barcelona in the Champions League. 26 Nov 2025
Estevao, 18, scored a stunning second goal after Barcelona went down to 10 men - skipper Ronald Araujo sent off for a second booking just before the break. By then the hosts had taken the lead through an own goal by Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, with substitute Liam Delap completing and scoring and ending an 11-game drought with his first goal of the season. Yet Estevao stole the limelight from visiting Yamal, also 18, in a contest between arguably the world's two best teenage attackers. The headline moment came when the Brazil international skipped past Pau Cubarsi, held off Alejandro Balde and powered his shot past goalkeeper Joan Garcia, while Yamal was then substituted in the 80th minute to jeers from the home crowd. Two minutes later, manager Enzo Maresca took Estevao off to a standing ovation. This after Estevao provided the highlight of a memorable night at Stamford Bridge, for a Chelsea side missing star forward Cole Palmer through a toe injury. Chelsea deserved their early lead with a clever short-corner routine involving Estevao, Alejandro Garnacho and Marc Cucurella, which ended when Neto's flick ricocheted off Kounde into the net for 1-0. Enzo Fernandez earlier had two set-piece goals ruled out for offside, while Reece James forced two saves from long-range efforts and Neto blazed over when clean through. Barcelona squandered their best chance of the first half when former Manchester City forward Ferran Torres put a close-range effort wide, before being replaced at half-time by Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford. Yet Rashford couldn't turn the tide as Estevao made it 2-0 with his solo run and finish, and Delap added a third with a side-footed strike after Fernandez broke the offside trap and squared a pass into the box. Victory lifted Chelsea into the top eight of the 36-team league phase, meaning they would avoid an extra play-off round in February if they keep their position, with three further matches to play.
Borussia Dortmund moved up to fourth in the Champions League table as Serhou Guirassy scored twice to help them to a routine victory over 10-man Villarreal. 26 Nov 2025
The Guinea forward struck in the second minute of first-half stoppage time with a close-range header, although the visitors appealed for a handball from Waldemar Anton before the ball reached him. However, following a lengthy check by the video assistant referee (VAR), the goal was allowed to stand. The game swayed in the Bundesliga side's favour in the 52nd minute when Villarreal went down to 10 men. Former Tottenham defender Juan Foyth was sent off for handling the ball on the goalline as he tried to use his chest to keep out Karim Adeyemi's effort. Guirassy's subsequent penalty was saved by Luiz Junior, but the rebound fell perfectly for the striker who calmly converted the rebound. It became 3-0 in the 58th minute when a defensive clearance bounced into the net off Adeyemi. Dortmund had another chance to score from the spot when Adeyemi was fouled by Sergi Cardona but, with Guirassy already substituted, Fabio Silva stepped up and hit the crossbar. But the German side did make it 4-0 in added time with a powerful header from Daniel Svensson following Pascal Gross' cross from the right. The victory left Dortmund on 10 points from their five games and in a strong position with three games left to claim a top-eight spot and skip the play-off round. Villarreal are third from bottom with just a point and in danger of an early exit.
Pep Guardiola's 100th Champions League game in charge of Manchester City ended in disappointment after the much-changed hosts were stunned by Bayer Leverkusen. 26 Nov 2025
Guardiola made 10 changes following their Premier League loss at Newcastle on Saturday, but the decision backfired in calamitous fashion as they fell to back-to-back defeats. City had started on the front foot with Nathan Ake's poked effort from close range tipped wide by Mark Flekken's sharp reflex save but for large periods after the hosts were slow and ponderous in possession. Leverkusen were showing signs of speed on the break and got their reward on the counter when Christian Kofane clipped the ball back for captain Alejandro Grimaldo to drill home a crisp first-time finish. City's fringe players were finding it difficult to maintain any rhythm as they looked to claw their way back into the game, with Tijjani Reijnders dribbling through but shooting straight at ex-Brentford goalkeeper Flekken. And Kasper Hjulmand's visitors were in dreamland when they doubled their lead on 54 minutes as Czech striker Patrik Schick leapt highest to glance home a header from Ibrahim Maza's pinpoint cross. Star man Erling Haaland was introduced on the hour mark and almost made an impact 10 minutes later by latching on to Phil Foden's pass, but the ball was smothered at his feet by Flekken. City were left frustrated when the Norwegian hooked another effort over but the night belonged to Leverkusen and their joyous travelling support.
Ten-man Everton held on for a rare and quite amazing Old Trafford victory after Idrissa Gueye was sent off for striking team-mate Michael Keane after just 13 minutes against Manchester United. 25 Nov 2025
In quite incredible scenes, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford had to hold Gueye back as he took exception to a few choice words from Keane after Everton had defended a United attack. Gueye got near enough to slap Keane on the cheek. The action triggered a red card from referee Tony Harrington and more choice words from Keane, who angrily gestured for Gueye to get off the pitch. It was an incident reminiscent of when Lee Bowyer and Kieran Dyer had to be separated as they were sent off for fighting with each other during their Newcastle days. Gueye's red card was part of a calamitous opening for the visitors, who also lost skipper Seamus Coleman to injury just 10 minutes into his first league start of the season. Staggeringly, against a United side who knew victory would take them fifth in the table and on a ground where they have won once since August 1992, Everton then went in front when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall surged to the edge of the area, then sent a curling effort past goalkeeper Senne Lammens into the top corner. Predictably, United swarmed all over their opponents looking for a way back into the contest but the equaliser would not come as Everton became the first away team to win a Premier League game at Old Trafford despite having a man sent off. It was also a night of glory for former United boss David Moyes, who won at this stadium as an opposition manager in the Premier League for the first time.
Jude Bellingham scored one and assisted another as Real Madrid returned to the top of La Liga despite being held to a draw by Elche. 24 Nov 2025
The England midfielder fired Kylian Mbappe's cut-back into the net with three minutes remaining to rescue a point for Xabi Alonso's side, who had trailed twice at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero. Aleix Febas had given mid-table Elche the lead eight minutes into the second half, poking his shot past Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and in off the right-hand post. Former Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen prodded home Bellingham's knockdown to restore parity 12 minutes from time, only for Alvaro Rodriguez to put the home side back in front with a low shot from the edge of the box. But Madrid - and Bellingham - had the final say with the 22-year-old's third goal in his last four La Liga appearances. Elche were reduced to 10 men in the seventh minute of added time when defender Victor Chust was sent off, picking up a second yellow card for a foul on Mbappe.
