Makeshift striker Mikel Merino scored a crucial equaliser against 10-man Chelsea as leaders Arsenal moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League. 30 Nov 2025
The game's big moment came in the 38th minute, when Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo was sent off following a video assistant referee (VAR) review for a late tackle that connected with Merino's shin - his side's sixth red card of the season. But 10-man Chelsea took the lead shortly after half-time when Trevoh Chalobah's flicked header from a corner looped over David Raya and into the bottom corner. Arsenal levelled 11 minutes later when Spain international Merino headed in Bukayo Saka's in-swinging cross at the far post. There were seven yellow cards to add to Caicedo's red in a tense, feisty contest as Chelsea dominated much of the first half, with Estevao Willian having two good chances. Arsenal were without first-choice centre-backs Gabriel and William Saliba for only the second time since 2021 and their only real effort of the first half fell to Saka, who fired at Robert Sanchez at the near post. The dismissal was a turning point and it came when VAR John Brooks advised referee Anthony Taylor to upgrade Caicedo's yellow card to red after his studs caught Merino above the ankle - a decision confirmed following a pitchside review. Chelsea continued to attack, however, after introducing Alejandro Garnacho at half-time, with Reece James first setting up Joao Pedro's close-range header - well saved - before delivering the cross for Chalobah's deft headed goal. However, Saka got the better of Marc Cucurella - who fouled him four times and was booked - to cross for Merino to equalise at the far post. Despite being a man down, Chelsea created the best chances to win it through Pedro Neto, substitute Liam Delap and Wesley Fofana. Merino went closest to an Arsenal winner with an edge-of-the-box strike, while Saka's long-range effort was their only other real threat in the second half. The draw means Arsenal move five points clear of second-placed Manchester City, while Chelsea are a further point back in third. The Gunners are now unbeaten in 17 games in in all competitions, stretching back to 30 August.
Alexander Isak scored his first Premier League goal for Liverpool since his record £125m move from Newcastle United as Arne Slot's side ended their wretched run with a much-needed victory at West Ham United. 30 Nov 2025
On an occasion of high emotion following the announcement of the death of legendary former Hammers captain and manager Billy Bonds, the Reds ended a dismal sequence of nine defeats in 12 games - their worst since 1954 - with a deserved success. Head coach Slot dropped Mohamed Salah from a league starting line-up for the first time since April 2024, also at West Ham - a run of 53 games - under his predecessor Jurgen Klopp, and was rewarded with a much-improved display. Liverpool dominated a subdued West Ham, with Florian Wirtz excelling in a role behind the strikers, before Isak ended his personal struggles - and 310-minute league goal drought - with a fine half-volley from Cody Gakpo's cross on the hour. The home side's misery was compounded six minutes from time when Lucas Paqueta was shown two yellow cards for dissent by referee Darren England in quick succession for arguing over a decision to award a foul against his team. Liverpool then added a second goal their superiority deserved when Gakpo finished well in stoppage time, and moved up to eighth place in the table - three points off the top four.
Manchester United overcame a half-time deficit and their Selhurst Park demons to move back into the Premier League's top six by beating Crystal Palace. 30 Nov 2025
Anthony Martial was among scorers last time United won at this stadium in July 2020, while they had not managed a goal here since Bruno Fernandes' effort in January 2023. When Palace led at the end of a first half they dominated thanks to Jean-Philippe Mateta's twice-taken penalty, few would have predicted Ruben Amorim's side would be changing their abysmal record. But, as the visiting fans cheekily paid homage to legendary striker Eric Cantona, whose most infamous moment came at this ground in 1995 and led to a nine-month ban from football - and a prison sentence that was quickly overturned - their modern day heroes finally came to the fore. Much maligned front man Joshua Zirkzee repaid Amorim's faith in starting him again after an ineffective display in the defeat by 10-man Everton by levelling with a vicious drive from acute angle nine minutes into the second period. Then Mason Mount drove Fernandes' short pass from a free-kick on the edge of Palace's box low into the corner beyond the grasp of Dean Henderson. The victory ended United's run of three games without a win and ensured Palace were unable to grasp the prize of a place in the top four that victory would have given them.
Flamengo became the first Brazilian team to lift the Copa Libertadores four times with victory over rivals Palmeiras. 30 Nov 2025
Former Real Madrid, Man City and Juventus defender Danilo rose highest from a Giorgian de Arrascaeta corner to head into the bottom corner in the 67th minute as Filipe Luis' side emerged victorious. Victor Roque missed a golden opportunity to equalise for Palmeiras with two minutes of normal time remaining but blazed his shot over the bar from close range. Everton had a chance to seal the victory in stoppage time but his low driven free-kick was pushed on to the post by Palmeiras goalkeeper Carlos Miguel. In five of the past seven seasons, either Palmeiras or Flamengo has claimed the Libertadores. Luis became the ninth man to win the competition both as a player and as a coach, having claimed the trophy twice with Flamengo in 2019 and 2022. In a first half which produced no shots on target, Chilean midfielder Erick Pulgar was fortunate to avoid a straight red card in the 30th minute when he raked his studs down the leg of Bruno Fuchs. The sides met in the 2021 final which was won 2-1 by Palmeiras.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich scored two goals in injury time to beat lowly St Pauli. 29 Nov 2025
Andreas Hountondji, on loan from Burnley, gave the visitors an early surprise lead after Bayern gave the ball away several times. Lennart Karl and Tom Bischof both hit the woodwork as Bayern probed for an equaliser. The leveller did come late in the first half when Luis Diaz, on the ground, flicked the ball on with his heel for Raphael Guerreiro to lash home. Bayern striker Harry Kane smashed an effort off the post in the second half. And three minutes into injury time, ex-Liverpool man Diaz headed home from Joshua Kimmich's cross. Substitute Nicolas Jackson, on loan from Chelsea, added a late third as St Pauli threw players forward. Bayern have won 11 and drawn one of their league games this season - with Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League loss at Arsenal their only defeat so far. St Pauli remain in the relegation zone after that late heartbreak.
