Barcelona threatened an epic comeback against Atletico Madrid but came up short as the holders exited the Copa del Rey at the semi-final stage after a dramatic 4-3 defeat on aggregate.

Two goals from Marc Bernal, either side of a Raphinha penalty, gave the home side hope of a remarkable turnaround but they could not find a fourth to force extra time despite late pressure.
Diego Simeone's side held on and they will face the winner of Real Sociedad and Athletic Club, who meet in the other last-four tie on Wednesday, in the final.
Barcelona faced an uphill task after they were thrashed 4-0 in the first leg last month as they looked to reach the final of the competition they have won 32 times.
Hansi Flick's side started with intent, pressing the visitors from the start and peppering Juan Musso's goal.
Raphinha went close early on when he fired into the side netting as Barcelona benefited from a high press which would not allow Atleti the chance to settle.
Ferran Torres then had two attempts on goal before Alejandro Balde, who came on an as an early substitute for the injured Jules Kounde, tested Musso.
The opener came in the 29th minute when superb work from Lamine Yamal down the left opened up space, and the teenage star crossed for 18-year-old Bernal to tap home after finding himself unmarked in the area.
The goal sparked hope inside the Spotify Camp Nou that a comeback could be on.
Barcelona beat Atleti at this stage last season on their way to winning the competition but they needed something special here to turn this around and keep the defence of their crown going.
Antoine Griezmann was Atleti's brightest spark and hit the post before the offside flag went up and then Ademola Lookman turned a decent chance wide.
But in first-half stoppage time, Pedri was upended by Clement Lenglet in the area and Raphinha converted the resulting spot-kick as he sent Musso the wrong way.
Former Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez forced Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia into an early stop after the break before Bernal brought Musso into action again.
Marcus Rashford came off the bench as the hosts chased more goals but it was Bernal who scored next for the hosts when he turned in Joao Cancelo's cross with 18 minutes to go for his fourth goal in four games.
Flick's side continued to pile on the pressure late on but the closest they came was Gerard Martin's curled effort which went just over.
Real Madrid missed the chance to move within one point of La Liga leaders Barcelona after Martin Satriano's spectacular strike gave Getafe a shock win at the Bernabeu.
03 Mar 2026
Satriano scored the winner before half-time when his breathtaking volley nestled into Thibaut Courtois' top corner, condemning the hosts to a second successive league defeat.
It means Real remain four points behind Barca having both now played 26 games.
Madrid were again without Kylian Mbappe as the 27-year-old has struggled with an injury to the external ligament of his left knee since the end of 2025.
Getafe's stubborn defence frustrated Madrid throughout the game as the home side were unable to score past David Soria.
Vinicius Jr missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock before Satriano's strike, denied by keeper Soria when through on goal.
Alvaro Arbeloa made three substitutions inside the first 10 minutes of the second half, with Trent Alexander-Arnold one of those to make way.
His side upped the tempo after the break, with the visitors looking most vulnerable from crosses into the box.
Antonio Rudiger sent a near-post header just wide, while substitute Rodrygo nodded an effort across goal and Dani Carvajal was unable to turn it in at the far post.
Real Madrid's night turned from bad to worse when Franco Mastantuono received a red card for abusive language towards referee Alejandro Muniz Ruiz in stoppage time.
Moments later, Getafe's Adrian Liso was also sent off after picking up a second yellow card for time wasting.
Arbeloa has now lost four out of his 12 games in charge, although he has had to make do without both Mbappe and England midfielder Jude Bellingham through injury.
Madrid next face Celta Vigo on Friday (20:00 GMT) as they look to avoid a third straight league defeat.
Arsenal scored from two trademark corners to beat 10-man Chelsea at Emirates Stadium and regain their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
01 Mar 2026
Manchester City had heaped pressure on the Gunners by cutting their lead to two points with victory at Leeds on Saturday.
But after a cagey start with few chances, Arsenal opened the scoring from a corner in the 21st minute.
Centre back Gabriel Magalhaes headed Bukayo Saka's corner back across goal to his defensive partner William Saliba, whose header struck Mamadou Sarr on the arm before going into the net.
Chelsea grew into the match after going behind and threatened with their own set-pieces - scoring from a corner themselves just before half-time as Piero Hincapie flicked Reece James' delivery into his own net.
Chelsea started the second half better than their hosts - creating a nervy atmosphere inside the stadium - before Jurrien Timber headed in Declan Rice's corner.
Timber's goal, Arsenal's 16th from a corner this season, secured three crucial points in the title race.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had introduced Gabriel Martinelli from the substitutes bench and when the winger looked to launch a counter-attack, he was brought down by Pedro Neto.
It meant the Chelsea forward, who was already on a yellow card, saw red with 20 minutes left to play.
Liam Delap thought he had snatched a point late on for the away side when he bundled the ball in but Joao Pedro was well offside in the build-up and the goal was ruled out.
The win puts Arsenal on 64 points, five clear of Manchester City, having played a game more than their rivals.
Manchester United fought back to beat 10-man Crystal Palace and go third in the Premier League amid penalty controversy and a contentious red card decision.
01 Mar 2026
Palace were on course for a third straight win at Old Trafford when Maxence Lacroix, who had opened the scoring for the visitors in the fourth minute, grabbed at Matheus Cunha in the second half.
Although the initial contact was outside the penalty box, Lacroix did not let go as the Brazil forward entered the area.
Cunha then went down and, after being sent to the screen, referee Chris Kavanagh stood by his initial decision to award a penalty - and also sent Lacroix off as the United attacker would have had a goalscoring opportunity.
Bruno Fernandes fired the 57th-minute spot-kick past Dean Henderson to equalise, and Benjamin Sesko put the hosts in front eight minutes later when he powered home a header from Fernandes' cross.
The Slovenia striker was scoring for the third successive game and took his tally to seven in his past eight matches.
Former United goalkeeper Henderson prevented Casemiro from increasing the hosts' lead with a brilliant reaction save and later also stopped a dangerous effort from substitute Amad Diallo.
The result extends Michael Carrick's record in charge to six wins and a draw from seven games and takes his side above Aston Villa into third on goal difference.
It is the first time United have been as high as third since Erik ten Hag's first season in charge in 2023.
Palace are 14th in the table, 10 points clear of the relegation zone, and will surely target the Conference League as another piece of silverware and European qualification before boss Oliver Glasner leaves the club this summer.
Antoine Semenyo scored just before half-time as title-chasing Manchester City escaped Elland Road with victory over an energetic Leeds United.
28 Feb 2026
The hard-earned outcome narrowed Arsenal's lead to two points at the top of the Premier League.
City travelled to West Yorkshire without their Leeds-born star striker Erling Haaland who was injured in training, and it looked for large periods in the first half that they would rue not having their top goalscorer available.
But Ghana international Semenyo stretched to convert Rayan Ait-Nouri's fizzed low ball into the penalty area for his sixth City goal since joining from Bournemouth in January.
Leeds will be wondering how they did not score after making a sprightly start and giving City real cause for early concern.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a golden opportunity inside the opening four minutes, but the Englishman somehow poked wide from eight yards after connecting with Brenden Aaronson's cross from the right.
The ex-Everton man struck another effort wide from a tricky angle and was unable to add to his 10 league goals this season, as Semenyo's winner left the hosts six points clear of the relegation zone.
